Hamas is now confronting a future where its major ally is no longer present. The actions taken by Israel against Hezbollah and the agreement to end the conflict in Lebanon have led to Hamas being more cut off from support.

Over the course of one year, journalists have published many articles about discussions to end the fighting in the Gaza conflict.
Hamas has had the belief for a while that a larger conflict in the Middle East would be beneficial for them to achieve success in their battle against Israel.
The agreement to end the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has jeopardized Hamas’s strategy by removing its key ally from the battle, as stated by U.S. officials.
This deal marks progress for the Biden administration’s efforts to mitigate the conflict and exert more pressure on Hamas to negotiate with Israel and free the captives in Gaza.
Prior to the announcement of the Lebanese cease-fire, both Palestinian and U.S. officials expressed their belief that Hamas’s political leadership was prepared to negotiate and move away from the strategy set by their deceased leader, Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by Israeli forces recently.
Following an attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, Mr. Sinwar’s main goal was to defeat Israel by involving it in a large-scale war with Hezbollah and Iran. U.S. officials mentioned that as long as this strategy seemed feasible, Mr. Sinwar would prevent any efforts to reach a cease-fire agreement.
