In Los Angeles, a judge decided to delay a hearing on whether to resentencing Erik and Lyle Menendez until early next year. This decision was made to allow the court and a newly elected district attorney more time to thoroughly review the case.

The scheduled hearing for the two brothers who have been in prison for many years, which may result in their release, was originally set for December 11th but has been rescheduled to January 30th.

During a court session in Los Angeles County, Judge Michael Jesic expressed his desire for the incoming administration to review the documents and provide their input.

In 1996, the Menendez brothers were found guilty of murdering their parents at their Beverly Hills residence. They were scheduled to attend a court hearing via video on Monday, but technical issues prevented their participation. The hearing proceeded without them and lasted approximately 40 minutes.

During the 1990s, the Menendez brothers’ case became widely known throughout the country due to its disturbing violence and accusations of sexual abuse happening in a wealthy community.
