In the Northeast, a snowstorm brought over six inches of snow to some areas by Thursday afternoon. Additionally, several feet of lake-effect snow were forecasted for areas near the Great Lakes during the weekend, posing a risk for Thanksgiving travelers on the road.

A storm was heading in a northern direction from northeastern Pennsylvania, with certain areas north of Interstate 80 receiving up to four inches of snow by Thursday afternoon.

In northern New England, snow was falling and the National Weather Service predicted that over twelve inches could accumulate in inland Maine and northern New Hampshire.

According to meteorologist Scott Kleebauer, the storm is moving at a relatively fast speed, which is a good thing because it might help reduce the amount of snowfall in parts of northern New England.

The forecast predicted that the Mid-Atlantic region would receive a snow accumulation of up to six inches.

Upstate New York, including Fulton and western Schenectady Counties, and Bennington and western Windham Counties in Vermont were under a winter storm warning until 1 a.m. Friday. Northern sections of Interstates 87 and 90 experienced snow and ice on Thursday afternoon.
