President Biden visited Nantucket for the last time during his presidency, taking time to appreciate the advancements made towards peace in the Middle East and encouraging Americans to remain optimistic.

Writing from the location of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

On Thursday morning, the president and the first lady visited various locations in Massachusetts for Thanksgiving, giving pumpkin pies to police officers, firefighters, and medics on Nantucket. They also called members of the armed services, carrying on a family tradition they started in 1975.

During a rainy day on the island, President Biden visited the Nantucket fire station where he greeted and interacted with the officers on duty. He also walked through the station with his grandson Beau, exchanging baseball caps and smiling throughout the visit.

The president took some time to think about the current political atmosphere in the United States, encouraging Americans to stay true to their values, avoid focusing too much on pessimistic stories, and be mindful of where they get their news from.

After considering recent polls showing most Americans are worried about the country’s direction, Mr. Biden suggested that this may be due to fewer people relying on traditional news sources and the negative tone often portrayed on television.

He suggested that the reason for this may be due to the lack of positive news on television.

Despite urging Americans to stay positive during uncertain times, the president acknowledged that President-elect Donald J. Trump would likely face challenges in the future. He anticipated that Congress may push Mr. Trump to make adjustments to his plans and also expressed slight disapproval of some of his successor’s recent ideas.
