Biden visited Nantucket for the last time as President, stopping at his typical destinations to thank the progress made towards peace in the Middle East and encourage Americans to remain optimistic.

Writing from Nantucket, Massachusetts.
On Thursday morning, the president and first lady visited Massachusetts as they traditionally do for Thanksgiving. They brought pumpkin pies to police officers, firefighters, and medics in Nantucket, and also made phone calls to members of the armed services. This has been a family tradition for them since 1975.
When heavy rains hit the island on Thursday, many people stayed indoors. However, President Biden seemed happy as he visited the Nantucket fire station. He greeted the officers on duty, exchanged baseball caps with them, and walked through the hall with his grandson Beau.
The president spent a lot of time thinking about the political atmosphere in the United States, encouraging Americans to stay true to their values, avoid pessimistic stories, and be mindful of what news they consume.
After considering recent public opinion surveys showing that most Americans are worried about the country’s direction, Mr. Biden suggested that this could be due to a decrease in viewership for traditional news sources and negative assessments on television.
"I believe there is a reason for that," he stated. "When you watch television, you tend to be exposed to a lot of negative news rather than positive news."
Despite urging Americans to stay positive during uncertain times, the president also acknowledged that President-elect Donald J. Trump may face challenges in the future. He suggested that Congress may push Trump to adjust some of his plans and expressed mild disapproval of some of Trump’s recent ideas.
