President Biden visited Nantucket for the last time during his presidency, stopping at familiar locations to thank people for the advancements made towards peace in the Middle East and encouraging Americans to maintain a positive outlook.

Writing from Nantucket, Massachusetts.
On Thursday morning, the president and first lady visited Massachusetts to carry out their usual Thanksgiving routine. They handed out pumpkin pies to police officers, firefighters, and medics in Nantucket and also reached out to members of the military. This tradition has been upheld by their family since 1975.
During a rainy day on the island, President Biden visited the Nantucket fire station and interacted with the officers on duty. He smiled, shook hands, and exchanged baseball caps with them while showing his grandson Beau around the building.
The president took some time to think about the current political atmosphere in the United States and encouraged Americans to stay true to their values, avoid pessimistic stories, and be mindful of what news they consume.
After observing recent polls showing that most Americans are worried about the country’s direction, Mr. Biden suggested that this may be due to the declining viewership of traditional news sources and the overly negative tone of TV news broadcasts.
"I believe there’s a reason for that," he stated. "When you watch TV, there’s not much positive news being shown."
Despite urging Americans to stay positive during uncertain times, the president acknowledged potential challenges for President-elect Donald J. Trump. He foresaw the possibility of Congress requiring Mr. Trump to adjust some of his plans and also made subtle criticisms of his successor’s recent ideas.
