President Biden visited Nantucket for the last time during his presidency, making his typical stops and thanking people for the advancements made towards peace in the Middle East. He also encouraged Americans to remain optimistic.

Writing from Nantucket, Massachusetts.
On Thursday morning, the president and first lady went around Massachusetts as they usually do on Thanksgiving, giving pumpkin pies to police officers, firefighters, and medics in Nantucket. They also called members of the military, maintaining a tradition that has been ongoing since 1975.
Despite the rainy weather keeping most residents indoors on Thursday, President Biden seemed happy as he visited the Nantucket fire station. He greeted and interacted with the officers on duty, even exchanging baseball caps with them, while also showing his grandson Beau around the station.
The president spent some time thinking about the current political atmosphere in the United States and encouraged Americans to stay true to their values, avoid overly pessimistic stories, and be mindful of where they get their news from.
After observing recent public opinion surveys showing that most Americans are worried about the country’s direction, Mr. Biden suggested that this could be due to a decrease in viewership for traditional news sources and the overly negative outlook presented on television.
"I believe there is a reason for that," he explained. "When you watch television, you are often not shown positive news stories."
Despite urging Americans to stay positive during uncertain times, the president acknowledged that President-elect Donald J. Trump may face challenges ahead. He suggested that Congress could push Mr. Trump to adjust some of his plans and also expressed mild disapproval of some of his successor’s recent concepts.
