President Biden decided to pardon his son Hunter on Sunday night, going back on his previous statements that he would not do so. This pardon clears Hunter of all legal issues, such as a federal conviction for purchasing a gun illegally and for evading taxes. Biden used his presidential authority to forgive these offenses.

The White House released a statement from President Biden announcing his decision to grant his son clemency for any offenses he may have committed or been involved in between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

He stated that he chose to make the decision because he believed that the accusations against Hunter were driven by political motives and intended to harm his political career.

Mr. Biden stated that the charges against his son, Hunter, were brought forth by his political opponents in Congress to undermine him and his campaign. He believes that anyone who examines the details of Hunter’s cases would see that he was targeted solely because of his connection to Mr. Biden, which he believes is unjust.

He mentioned that there have been attempts to undermine Hunter, who has remained sober for five and a half years despite facing constant attacks and targeted legal action. By targeting Hunter, they are also trying to target him, and he believes that this pattern will continue. He believes it is time for this to end.

A man with a long political career and presidency, known for his commitment to non-interference in justice, experienced a significant change in perspective in 2020. He advocated for the removal of former President Donald J. Trump to uphold the independence of America’s democracy, and continued to push for this in 2024.
