President Biden decided to pardon his son Hunter on Sunday night, going back on his previous statements that he would not do so. This pardon clears Hunter of all legal issues, including a federal conviction for purchasing a gun illegally and for tax evasion.

President Biden released a statement from the White House announcing his decision to grant his son executive clemency for any offenses he may have committed or been involved in between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

He explained that he chose to make the decision because he believed the accusations against Hunter were driven by political motives and intended to damage him politically.

Mr. Biden stated that the charges against his son were brought about by his political opponents in Congress to undermine him and his election campaign. He believes that anyone who examines the details of Hunter’s cases would see that he was targeted solely because he is his son, which he believes is unfair.

He stated that there have been attempts to harm Hunter, who has remained sober for five and a half years despite constant attacks and unfair treatment. The speaker believes that these attempts to harm Hunter are also directed at him, and he fears that they will not end there. He expressed that he has reached his limit and will not tolerate it any longer.

A significant change occurred for a man who based his presidency and long career on the principle that he would not meddle with the justice system. In 2020 and again in 2024, he advocated for the removal of former President Donald J. Trump in order to uphold independence in America’s democracy.
