President-elect Donald J. Trump revealed his decision on Sunday to appoint Massad Boulos, a Lebanese American businessman who is also the father of his daughter Tiffany’s husband, as a senior adviser focusing on Arab and Middle Eastern matters.
This weekend, Mr. Trump extended a job offer within his administration to a family member for the second time. This offer was made after he appointed Charles Kushner, who is Ivanka’s father-in-law, as the ambassador to France.
Mr. Trump made an announcement where he commended Mr. Boulos for his business expertise and the support he provided during his presidential campaign, without mentioning their family ties.
"Mr. Trump praised Massad for his successful career as a lawyer and his reputation as a respected figure in the business industry, especially in international matters. Massad has shown strong support for Republican and Conservative beliefs for a long time and has played a key role in forming important connections with the Arab American Community for Trump’s Campaign."
Prior to the recent election, Mr. Boulos was actively involved in the Trump campaign, focusing on gaining support from Arab American voters who were potentially dissatisfied with President Biden’s stance on Israel. Despite Trump’s strong pro-Israel stance during his first term, Mr. Boulos worked to garner support for him in predominantly Arab American and Muslim communities in Michigan.
Mr. Boulos has acted as a go-between for Mr. Trump and Middle Eastern leaders due to his ties to the Trump family. He met with Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority leader, during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September. Additionally, he assisted in delivering a letter from Mr. Abbas to Mr. Trump in July, expressing well wishes after an assassination attempt on Mr. Trump that month.
