On Sunday, President-elect Donald J. Trump revealed his intention to appoint Massad Boulos, a Lebanese American businessman who is also his daughter Tiffany’s father-in-law, as a senior adviser responsible for overseeing Arab and Middle Eastern matters.

On the weekend, Mr. Trump offered a role in his administration to a family member for the second time. This time, he asked Charles Kushner, who is Ivanka’s father-in-law, to be the ambassador to France.

Mr. Trump made an announcement where he commended Mr. Boulos for his business expertise and the support he provided during his presidential campaign, without mentioning their family relationship.

"Mr. Trump praised Massad as a skilled lawyer and esteemed figure in the business sector, particularly in international affairs. He has shown a strong support for Republican and Conservative beliefs for a long time, and has played a key role in forming important alliances with the Arab American Community for my Campaign."

Prior to the recent election, Mr. Boulos was actively involved in the Trump campaign, reaching out to Arab American voters in hopes of swaying their support towards Mr. Trump due to their dissatisfaction with President Biden’s stance on Israel. Despite Mr. Trump’s strong support for Israel during his presidency, Mr. Boulos focused on garnering support for him within Arab American and Muslim communities in Michigan.

Mr. Boulos has acted as a bridge between Mr. Trump and Middle Eastern leaders due to his ties to the Trump family. He met with Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority leader, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September. Additionally, he assisted in delivering a letter from Mr. Abbas to Mr. Trump in July, expressing well wishes after an assassination attempt on Mr. Trump.
