Discussion on Political Matters
In an interview with Senator Laphonza Butler, a Democrat from California, it was revealed that Biden had not kept a promise, according to a supporter of Harris. This interview took place during Butler’s last week in the Senate.

Laphonza Butler has only been a senator from California for around 15 months, but she has been a strong supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris for 15 years.
During the week, I had a conversation with Butler, who has been in a long partnership with Harris since they first met when Butler was a union leader in Los Angeles. This partnership gives Butler a unique perspective on why their party lost the presidential election and what steps it can take to rebuild.
Harris has not spoken much about the reasons for her loss. According to Butler, the blame partly lies with President Biden, who she thinks went back on his promise by running for re-election. However, simply pointing fingers at Biden is not the solution. Democrats need to shift from talking to actively listening and understanding.
Governor Gavin Newsom selected Butler to take over the U.S. Senate position that became vacant after Senator Dianne Feinstein passed away in September 2023. Since Feinstein chose not to seek re-election, this week will be her final one in the Senate. Representative Adam Schiff will be inaugurated as California’s latest senator on Monday.
This interview was shortened and made clearer for better understanding.
LL: What are your thoughts on why Harris did not win?

Is it possible that Biden should not have entered
Initially, President Biden stated that he would be a transitional leader, which was the expectation people had. It would have been better for him to stick to that position. Despite the success of his presidency, history will likely view it as one of the most significant in my lifetime. However, when you set an expectation with people, it is important to follow through on it.
