Penelope Hegseth, the mother of Pete Hegseth, mentioned on Wednesday that her son has changed since 2018. She sent an email back then accusing him of mistreating women on a regular basis and lacking good morals and character.

During an interview on "Fox & Friends," Mrs. Hegseth stated that Pete has undergone a transformation and is now a different person. She mentioned that he has been redeemed, forgiven, and changed.

"I hope that everyone, especially our female senators, will take the time to get to know Pete today. Listen to him with an open heart and understand the truth about Pete," she expressed. She also emphasized that Pete does not mistreat women.

She made an appearance after The New York Times released an email she wrote while Mr. Hegseth was going through a difficult divorce from his second wife. In an interview with The Times on Friday, she mentioned that she did not actually mean what she said in the email and had apologized to her son in a later email.

Following reports of alcohol abuse and mismanagement of nonprofit organizations in an article published by The New Yorker this week, further allegations have surfaced against Mr. Hegseth. One incident involves a woman accusing him of rape at a political conference in 2017, although no charges were filed after an investigation. Mr. Hegseth’s lawyer claims the encounter was consensual.

The negative consequences of the situation have put Mr. Hegseth’s potential leadership position at the Defense Department in the upcoming Trump administration at risk. President-elect Donald J. Trump is reportedly considering different individuals for the role instead.
