Discussing Politics
In an interview with Senator Laphonza Butler, a Democrat from California, it was mentioned that Biden did not keep a promise according to a Harris supporter. This interview took place during Butler’s last week in the Senate.

Even though Laphonza Butler’s time as a senator from California is relatively short at around 15 months, she has been a trusted supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris for 15 years.
This week, I interviewed Butler, who has been in a long partnership with Harris. They first met when Butler was working as a union leader in Los Angeles. Butler shared insights on why her party lost the presidential election and discussed strategies for rebuilding.
Harris has not spoken extensively about the reasons for her loss. According to Butler, part of the blame lies with President Biden, who she thinks went back on his promise by running for re-election. However, simply pointing fingers at Biden is not sufficient. Democrats, Butler argues, need to shift from talking to actively listening and understanding.
Governor Gavin Newsom selected Butler to take over the U.S. Senate position previously held by Senator Dianne Feinstein, who passed away in September 2023. Since Feinstein chose not to seek re-election, this week marks her final days in the Senate, with Representative Adam Schiff set to be inaugurated as California’s newest senator on Monday.

LL is asking for the reason behind Harris’ loss.
LB: The people in America desired a shift in leadership. They were looking for a candidate who they believed would bring about change. I believe that’s the main reason behind it.
Was it a bad decision for Biden to run
When President Biden first took office, he indicated that he would be a temporary leader. This was what people were expecting. Therefore, it may have been better for him to stick with that plan. Despite this, we cannot ignore the accomplishments of his presidency. Looking back, his time in office will be seen as one of the most influential in my lifetime. However, when you set certain expectations, it is important to follow through on them.
