Discussion of Politics

Senator Laphonza Butler, a Democrat from California, was interviewed during her last week in the Senate. In the interview, a supporter of Kamala Harris claimed that Joe Biden had failed to keep a promise.

Laphonza Butler has held the position of senator in California for approximately 15 months. However, she has been a strong supporter and collaborator of Vice President Kamala Harris for 15 years.

During the current week, I had a conversation with Butler, who has had a lasting collaboration with Harris. They initially crossed paths when Butler was working as a union leader in Los Angeles. This partnership provides Butler with a unique viewpoint on the reasons behind her party’s defeat in the presidential election and potential strategies for rebuilding.

Harris has not publicly discussed the reasons for her loss. Butler believes that part of the blame lies with President Biden, who she thinks went back on a campaign promise by seeking re-election. However, solely blaming Biden is not sufficient. Democrats need to shift from talking to actively listening, according to Butler.

Governor Gavin Newsom selected Butler to take over the U.S. Senate position that became vacant after Senator Dianne Feinstein passed away in September 2023. Since Feinstein chose not to seek re-election, this week marks her final days in office. Representative Adam Schiff will officially become the newest senator for the state of California when he is sworn in on Monday.

LL is asking for the reason that Harris was not successful.

L: The people in America desired a shift in leadership. They were looking for a candidate who they believed could bring about change. That seems to be the main factor at play here.

Is it possible that Biden should not have decided

When President Biden first took office, he indicated that he intended to be a temporary leader. Many people believed this was his plan. It might have been better if he had stuck to this initial intention. While it cannot be denied that his presidency has been successful, it may have been more beneficial for him to continue in a transitional role. Looking back, history will likely view his presidency as highly impactful in my lifetime. However, once expectations are set, it is important to follow through on them.
