President-elect Trump has chosen two experienced officials to take on important positions in his upcoming immigration enforcement efforts. One of them is a former Border Patrol chief who was removed from his position by the Biden administration.

On social media, Mr. Trump stated that he plans to nominate Rodney S. Scott, who previously served as the chief of the Border Patrol under Mr. Trump’s administration in 2020, to lead Customs and Border Protection. This agency is responsible for managing the country’s borders, which also includes overseeing the Border Patrol.

During his announcement, Mr. Trump commended Mr. Scott for implementing several key policies during his initial term and acknowledged him for successfully reducing immigration rates. He mentioned that even after retiring, Rodney has been actively educating both politicians and the general public on the significance of effective Border Security.

Mr. Scott served as the head of the Border Patrol until 2021, when he was removed by the Biden administration. In an interview with Fox News, he stated that he was reassigned and eventually retired after expressing his opinions to the administration. He mentioned that he provided feedback and warned them about potential issues, but his advice was not taken into consideration.

During his time as head of the San Diego Border Patrol sector, Mr. Scott was involved in some of the most controversial enforcement actions taken by Mr. Trump. One such action involved Border Patrol agents firing tear gas into Mexico at migrants who were attempting to enter the United States.

During his time leading the agency, he was responsible for sending Border Patrol agents to Portland, Oregon in 2020 to defend federal buildings during demonstrations against police brutality. However, there were claims that federal agents in riot gear were seen in the city, not just on federal property. Despite this, Mr. Scott denied these reports.

In various media appearances, he has consistently expressed disapproval of the immigration policies of the Biden administration. Additionally, he was involved with a group of former homeland security officials who penned an open letter encouraging the public to support Mr. Trump in the election.

The letter stated that President Trump valued the knowledge and expertise of border security professionals and took their advice into consideration. He listened to the explanations from experts about how illegal immigration benefits cartels in controlling what and who enters the country, and he took action based on this information.

President Trump revealed that Caleb Vitello, a veteran Immigration and Customs Enforcement official, will serve as the temporary head of the agency. ICE, responsible for apprehending, holding, and removing undocumented immigrants within the country, has not had a leader confirmed by the Senate for quite some time.

Mr. Trump wrote on social media that Caleb’s outstanding leadership skills, vast experience, and dedication to ICE’s mission make him the perfect candidate to carry out the efforts to improve the safety and security of American communities affected by crimes committed by illegal aliens.

Mr. Vitello has been assigned an important role in supervising the mass deportation activities planned by Mr. Trump.
