Israel says it killed Iran’s ‘senior-most military official’

Israel said on Tuesday that it had killed Iran’s wartime chief of staff Maj. Gen. Ali Shamdani, the country’s most senior military leader. IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said in a statement that Shamdani was killed at the regime’s headquarters in Tehran.  “For the second time in 5 days, the IDF has eliminated Iran’s Wartime Chief of Staff, the regime’s top military commander,” the IDF wrote on X. “Ali Shadmani, Iran’s senior-most military official and Khamenei’s closest military advisor, was killed in an IAF strike in central Tehran, following precise intelligence.” ISRAEL SAYS IT HAS AERIAL SUPERIORITY OVER TEHRAN, IRANIAN INTELLIGENCE LEADER KILLED Shamdani led the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters — also referred to as Iran’s military emergency command — for approximately four days before he was killed, according to the Times of Israel. Shamdani was preceded by Maj. Gen. Gholam Ali Rashid, who was killed in Israel’s initial strikes on Iran on June 13. In his role, Shamdani allegedly managed combat operations and approved Iran’s attack plans, the Times of Israel reported. NBC News reported that Israel took out the commander “in the heart of Tehran,” seizing a “sudden opportunity.” TOP ADVISOR TO IRANIAN SUPREME LEADER KILLED IN ISRAELI STRIKES, STATE MEDIA SAYS Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced on his English-language X account that Shadmani would be taking Rashid’s place after the Iranian military leader was killed in Israel’s original attacks. “In view of Lt. Gen. Gholamali Rashid’s martyrdom at the hands of the vile Zionist regime, and in light of Major General Ali Shadmani’s meritorious service and valuable experience, I confer the rank of Major Gen. & appoint him Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya (pbuh) Central HQ,” Khamenei wrote in a post on X. Since the launch of Operation Rising Lion, Israel has taken out several key figures in Iran’s military and nuclear proliferation programs.  In a statement, Defrin vowed that Israel would “relentlessly pursue” its enemies “through advanced intelligence capabilities, exploiting emerging opportunities, air superiority, and complex operational planning.”  Latest & Breaking News on Fox News Read More

Florida sheriff scolds Lizzo after she said law enforcement threatened to ‘kill’ peaceful protestors

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey went viral for warning protesters to avoid violent tactics, and he blasted pop star Lizzo for apparently misconstruing his words in her own viral video. Ahead of the “No Kings” protests that occurred across the country, Ivey warned at a news conference alongside Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, “If you spit on us, you’re going to the hospital and then jail. If you hit one of us, you’re going to the hospital and then jail and most likely get bitten by one of our big beautiful dogs that we have here.” He went on to further warn, “Throw a brick, firebomb or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at. Because we will kill you graveyard dead. We’re not going to play.” Lizzo appeared to call out the video in a social media post. DOJ WARNS US ATTORNEYS TO PREPARE FOR CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS AHEAD OF NATIONWIDE ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTS “I just watched a video of law enforcement saying they would kill — kill anyone who exercises their First Amendment rights to protest. And I’ve never seen anything more unconstitutional in my life. It was actually appalling,” she said in a video posted on Instagram. She went on to declare, “We don’t serve a king. We don’t serve a dictator. We fought, and lived, and died for the right to vote for people who will protect and serve us, the people — we the people. And when that gets threatened, when that gets challenged, we just have to get louder. We just have to get prouder. It’s the American thing to do.” She concluded her video by saying, “I want to encourage everybody to remember their constitutional rights. I want to encourage everybody to also protect each other. Because the people that we put in position to protect us are not doing that. Know your rights, and stand on ’em.” CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF MEDIA AND CULTURE Fox News Digital reached out to the sheriff, who balked at how Lizzo appeared to mischaracterize his words. He assumed Lizzo was referring to his own comments, which were widely covered in the media. “Lizzo who?” he asked. “Until earlier tonight, I had never heard of her. So what she thinks matters exactly zero to me! She clearly didn’t listen to what was actually said during the press conference, as is evidenced by how inaccurate her quote is.” He added, “At no time were people peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights [ever] threatened, as what was actually said was that peaceful protests are part of our democracy, and we will provide a safe environment for peaceful protest to take place! My warnings were directed at violent protesters whose actions would put citizens and law enforcement officers’ lives at risk!” CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP Fox News Digital also reached out to Lizzo’s management for comment, but did not immediately hear back.  Latest & Breaking News on Fox News Read More

Minnesota lawmaker happened to be on vacation when masked suspect knocked on door

The man accused of shooting two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses early Saturday also visited the homes of two other lawmakers in between those shootings. The stunning revelations came at a Monday police briefing, where officials said accused killer Vance Luther Boelter also went to two other homes but didn’t get inside — as one of them was away on vacation. Boelter, 57, is accused of dressing as a police officer and shooting state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at around 2 a.m. in Champlin and then fatally shooting Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in Brooklyn Park at 3:30 a.m. He drove an SUV with flashing emergency lights and a license plate that read “police.”  FAKE COP SUSPECTED IN LAWMAKER ASSASSINATION HAD EXTENSIVE SECURITY TRAINING BEFORE ‘TARGETED’ ATTACK But Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson said Monday that Boelter visited the two other homes in between those shootings.  “Video surveillance showed that Boelter rang the doorbell at the state representative’s house at approximately 2:24 a.m. on Friday night,” Thompson said without naming the lawmaker. “Again, he was dressed as a law enforcement officer, wearing a tactical vest and body armor, carrying a handgun and a flashlight, and wearing that same hyperrealistic silicon mask. Fortunately, the state representative was not home. She and her family were gone on vacation. And so Boelter left.” Thompson said that about 10 minutes later Boelter went to a home in New Hope and that a police officer was already on the scene and interacted with Boelter, who didn’t respond and eventually left. State Sen. Ann Rest released a statement on Monday revealing that it was her home Boelter had arrived at. MINNESOTA LAWMAKER SHOOTING SUSPECT HAD CACHE OF WEAPONS, HIT LIST IN VEHICLE, COURT DOCUMENTS SHOW “After learning of the shooting of Senator Hoffman, New Hope police dispatched an officer to conduct a wellness check on the state senator who lived in New Hope,” Thompson said.  “When the New Hope officer arrived at the scene, she saw Boelter’s black SUV parked down the block with the lights on. Boelter did not respond. According to the officer, he just sat there and stared straight ahead. So the New Hope police officer waited for other law enforcement to arrive… By the time they did, Boelter had left the scene.” Rest said she was thankful for police acting so swiftly, crediting their “heroic work” for keeping her safe.  CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “Their quick action saved my life,” Rest said. “I am also thankful for the work of state and local law enforcement to apprehend the suspect before he could take any more lives. While I am thankful the suspect has been apprehended, I grieve for the loss of Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and I am praying for the recovery of John and Yvette Hoffman.”  Boelter is charged federally with two counts of stalking, two counts of murder using a firearm, and two additional firearm-related charges. He also faces second-degree murder charges in Hennepin County, where prosecutors say they will seek first-degree murder. Latest & Breaking News on Fox News Read More

World Series champion Ron Taylor dead at 87

Dr. Ron Taylor, a two-time World Series champion pitcher who later became the Toronto Blue Jays’ team physician, has died, the New York Mets said on Monday. He was 87. The Mets said Taylor died in Toronto after battling a long illness. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Taylor got his start with the Cleveland Indians in 1962 and helped the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series in 1964. After spending time with the Houston Astros, he joined the New York Mets and won a World Series title with them in 1969. “Ron was the only guy on our staff with postseason experience,” Taylor’s former teammate Art Shamsky said in a news release. “He had won a championship with the Cardinals in 1964 and brought a winning mentality. We don’t win the title without Ron Taylor.” Taylor was credited with being the so-called “unsung hero” of the Mets’ roster. In four postseason appearances in 1969, he had two saves and did not allow a run in 5.2 innings. SHOHEI OHTANI SHOWS SOME RUST IN 1ST PITCHING APPEARANCE SINCE 2023 He finished his career with the San Diego Padres in 1972. Taylor appeared in 491 games and had a 3.93 ERA with 464 strikeouts. When his baseball career was over, Taylor enrolled in medical school and joined the Blue Jays as the team physician. He spent about 30 years with the organization. Taylor was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Shohei Ohtani shows some rust in 1st pitching appearance since 2023

Shohei Ohtani appeared to be a bit rusty on the mound as he made his Los Angeles Dodgers pitching debut on Monday night against the San Diego Padres. Ohtani opened the game by allowing one run on two hits in the lone inning he pitched. He threw 28 pitches in his appearance, which was the second most by any Dodgers pitcher throughout the game. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Still, it was a massive first step to get back to the mound for live-game action as he went 21 months without pitching due to an elbow injury. He threw a fastball at 100.2 mph. “I was aiming to sit 95-96,” Ohtani said through a translator after the Dodgers won the game 6-3, “but the game intensity really allowed me to throw a little harder.” Ohtani admitted his nerves were heightened a bit more for the outing. He went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, a walk and two strikeouts. 2025 WORLD SERIES ODDS: DODGERS FAVORED; GIANTS TAKE BIG JUMP “But I did hit 100 (mph) today, so I want to see first where my body feels and how it reacts,” he said. “But the expectation is for me to go once a week. Hopefully to be able to go a little longer every time I’m out there so that the bullpen won’t be so taxed.” While Ohtani was more modest about his first appearance, third baseman Max Muncy thought Ohtani looked great. “Stuff looked electric, but when you haven’t pitched in that long of a time, and you don’t really get a chance to do any rehab games, maybe the command isn’t going to be there and that’s kind of what we saw tonight,” he said. The Dodgers improved to 44-29 with the win. San Diego fell to 39-32. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Money-saving storage hacks keep your berries fresher for longer, expert says

A popular Reddit post has people talking about the best way to preserve berries – and a food expert is weighing in, too. In a thread on r/FoodHacks, a user said that he or she was “a little proud” of a recently discovered berry hack. “I was tired of the raspberries I get from the store going bad so freakin’ fast,” the user wrote.  SINGLE STRAWBERRY SELLS FOR $19.99 AT GROCERY STORE: ‘STILL CHEAPER THAN EGGS’ “Looked up some different ways to keep them fresh and I liked this method.” The method involves thoroughly washing the raspberries, drying them with a paper towel and then storing them in an airtight glass container with another paper towel at the bottom. Thanks to the hack, the user was able to preserve the berries for nine days in the fridge – but admitted having to remove three berries that started going bad. “I think it was a success,” the user concluded. WHY FOOD SAFETY EXPERTS STAND BEHIND THE ‘WHEN IN DOUBT, THROW IT OUT’ STRATEGY Other Reddit users responded with their own tips and tricks for keeping berries edible for longer periods of time. “Washing berries with a little vinegar also adds some longevity,” one person said. “I use baking soda for all my produce except onions. I assume the slightly acidic rinse keeps mold spores and bacteria from developing in the fridge,” another person chimed in. Other methods didn’t necessarily involve baking soda or vinegar. “My hack is to leave them in the original containers unwashed, and place inside an airtight [Ziploc] bag in the fridge,” one person wrote. “They keep for at least a week.” “I wash them in [122°F] water as soon as I get home and ensure they are dry before putting them into an airtight container,” a different Reddit user suggested. “Definitely lasts longer this way.” And others were baffled that the berries lasted that long in the first place. THIS ‘UNDERAPPRECIATED’ BERRY CAN HELP WITH WEIGHT MANAGEMENT, SAYS NEW STUDY: ‘A VARIETY OF HEALTH BENEFITS’ “Raspberries do not last 9 days around me,” one person wrote. Another said, “I’d finish the berries before I even finished washing them.” Mark Wieser, co-founder of specialty foods company Fischer & Wieser in Fredericksburg, Texas, also shared with Fox News Digital his top steps for storing berries. 1. Wait to wash the berries until right before eating them – and don’t wash them under running water. 2. Gently place berries in a bowl of water to soak. This will clean them without harming their delicate structure. For more Lifestyle articles, visit foxnews.com/lifestyle 3. Fill a large bowl with cold water, then gently place the berries in a colander and dip them in the water bath. This results in an even wash that protects the berries, he said. 4. Afterward, transfer the berries to a paper towel-lined airtight container and place in the refrigerator. Wieser also noted that different types of berries have different cleaning needs, since some are more delicate than others. “Blueberries are relatively sturdy and can handle a bit more handling, while strawberries and raspberries are delicate and bruise easily,” he said. “Store in a shallow container lined with a paper towel and avoid stacking them deep,” he added. “Tailoring your storage method to the berry type can extend their life and preserve their taste.” CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTER He also said berries can be cleaned “effectively with just water, but using vinegar or baking soda can help remove pesticide residues and bacteria more thoroughly.” “Plain water, however, is still a safe and acceptable method for washing berries.” Commercially produced strawberries in particular are likely to have pesticide residue on them, so he recommends a vinegar bath. “In a bowl, mix four parts water with one part white vinegar, then let the strawberries soak in the bowl for 20 minutes,” he said. “Rinse the strawberries thoroughly with fresh cold water to clean off the vinegar.” Above all, Wieser said, consumers shouldn’t wait too long to enjoy their berries. “Keep them cold, dry and avoid rinsing until right before eating,” he said.  “A little planning can go a long way in reducing waste.” Latest & Breaking News on Fox News Read More

Israeli defensive capabilities prevented ‘far greater destruction,’ expert says

A security expert has hailed the “outstanding performance” of Israel’s defensive capabilities that he said prevented “far greater destruction,” amid the barrage of Iranian missiles fired at the Jewish state. The Institute for National Security Studies’ Dr. Yehoshua Kalisky recently wrote that the “destructive potential of Iranian ballistic missiles is immense,” given the size, maneuverability, and high velocity of various missiles in the Iranian arsenal. He calculated that Israel intercepted “approximately 95%” of the ballistic missiles launched toward its territory as of Saturday. Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told Fox News Digital he believes as of Monday, about 20 of the Iranian 250-300 ballistic missiles sent into Israeli airspace have made it through Israel’s defenses. On Tuesday, the Israeli military said another 20 were fired, with five getting through with no fatalities. ISRAEL ACTIVATES ‘BARAK MAGEN’ AERIAL DEFENSES FOR SYSTEM’S FIRST EVER INTERCEPTION As of June 15, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also stated that Iran had “sent more than 100 UAVs at Israel,” which it intercepted.  According to Taleblu, the “barrages against Israel follow the pattern established in 2024 where the decades-long covert war between Israel and Iran crept out of the shadows.”  Taleblu says Iran has been “doubl[ing] down on targeting civilian population centers in what are called counter-value operations in a bid to erode Israel’s will to continue its campaign against the Islamic Republic’s military sites.” He explained there have been “at least eight waves” of attacks on Israel, and that “there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to say that these waves are getting progressively smaller.”  Amid the Iranian attacks, Kalisky outlined the myriad defensive capabilities that have protected Israeli citizens. These include the Magen Or, “a new and significant addition to Israel’s defensive layer” that uses laser systems to intercept Iranian UAVs.  The U.S. deployed its Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense battery (THAAD) to Israel in October 2024 along with 100 U.S. personnel to operate the system. Kalisky says that THAAD “identifies targets up to 2,500 – 3,000 km away” and can intercept “short- and medium-range ballistic missiles at altitudes of up to 150 km.”  IRANIAN STRIKES ON ISRAEL ESCALATE, KILLING AT LEAST 24 AND DAMAGING US EMBASSY BRANCH IN TEL AVIV  Familiar Israeli systems continue to offer protection. Kalisky wrote that Iron Dome is intercepting missiles and short-range rockets while the David’s Sling intercepts cruise missiles and medium-range rockets and missiles. Arrow 2 intercepts long-range ballistic missiles within the atmosphere, while Arrow 3 intercepts them outside the atmosphere. Additionally, Israel’s naval interception system, the C-dome, is deployed to Israeli Sa’ar 6-class missile ships, “protect[ing] strategic maritime assets.”  Taleblu says that in addition to defending itself, Israel has targeted Iranian ballistic missile storage sites and launching infrastructure. As of Monday, the IDF announced they had destroyed a third of Iranian missile launchers. According to Taleblu, the “longer the conflict continues, the more militarily neutered the Islamic Republic will become,” though he notes “that doesn’t mean the regime isn’t lethal.”   “Quantity has a quality of its own,” Taleblu explained, saying that “Iranian ballistic missile survivability and maneuverability” has allowed projectiles to hit civilian population centers, causing death and “massive disruptions to patterns of life.” Taleblu said, “indicating why a regime like this should not be in possession of the biggest ballistic missile arsenal in the region and shall not be permitted to fill up [with] nuclear weapons.” As of Tuesday, 24 Israelis have been killed and more than 500 injured by the onslaught of Iranian ballistic missiles. Red Sox great David Ortiz talks ‘maturity’ in relation to Rafael Devers trade

The Boston Red Sox’s decision to trade Rafael Devers sparked an intriguing reaction from Baseball Hall of Famer David Ortz on Monday. The Red Sox stunningly traded Devers to the San Francisco Giants for four players, including Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks. The deal marked the end of a saga between the front office and Devers, which started when Boston signed Alex Bregman.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The Red Sox asked Devers to move from third base – an ask he refused. When Triston Casas got hurt, Devers also was not going to move to first base. Red Sox manager Alex Cora even referred to Devers as his designated hitter. The issue started a snowball effect that ended with Boston trading Devers to the National League West team. Ortiz told The Athletic he knew the situation with Devers “wasn’t going to end well,” but seemed to suggest Devers lacked “maturity” in the situation. “I played for the Red Sox a long time. You think everything with me and the Red Sox was roses and flowers? I went through some tough times also,” he said. “But I was mature enough to understand and keep things internal. Even in the best families, between the best brothers, s— happens. You need to have the maturity to resolve the problems and move on.” SHOHEI OHTANI SHOWS SOME RUST IN 1ST PITCHING APPEARANCE SINCE 2023 Ortiz said that, in the end, it is the organization that has the power to make the final decision regardless of how much money it still owes the player. “I know the communication between Devers and the Red Sox wasn’t the best at the very beginning,” Ortiz added. “But at some point, you have to realize the organization has the power over everyone. They can play you, trade you, let you go.  “Sometimes, as a young player, it’s hard to understand that. But they have the power to do whatever they want. The only thing you can control is what you do on the field.” Devers was hitting .272 with a .905 OPS and 15 home runs. He was leading the American League in walks with 56 and had played the most games in the majors (73). Virginia school district accused of religious discrimination in transgender locker room case

A northern Virginia school district dropped its Title IX sexual harassment investigation into a Muslim student who allegedly complained about sharing a locker room with a biological female who identifies as transgender, while adding additional Title IX violations against two Christian students involved in the same incident, their lawyer says. The three high school students, who are sophomores at Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), were placed under a Title IX investigation for “sexual harassment” after “expressing confusion and discomfort” over a transgender male student being in the boys’ locker room during PE class in March, according to their attorney, Founding Freedoms Law Center legal counsel Josh Hetzler. Under LCPS policy, students are allowed to use the locker room and restrooms that correspond with their gender identity. Hetzler says the district’s Title IX office notified his Muslim client that the sexual harassment allegation against him had been dismissed. However, the district refused to drop the sexual harassment allegation against his other two clients, who are Christian, and slapped them with an additional charge of “sex-based discrimination.” SCANDAL-PLAGUED SCHOOL DISTRICT REFERRED TO DOJ AFTER ANOTHER TRANSGENDER LOCKER ROOM CONTROVERSY In its dismissal letter, LCPS said that the Muslim student’s alleged conduct, even if proved to be true, “would not constitute sexual harassment” as defined in its Title IX regulations. Hetzler’s other two clients received a letter from LCPS on the same day informing them they were still under investigation for sexual harassment and, now, sex-based discrimination, under Title IX. While Hetzler is grateful for the dismissed probe against one of his clients, he argued all three students’ cases should be dismissed. “If your reason for dismissing it against our Muslim client is that — even if proven, even if true — this would not be a Title IX violation, then it must also be true that it’s not a Title IX violation for our other clients,” he told Fox News Digital. “So it’s just really baffling that they would do this.” VIRGINIA FATHER SAYS HIS SON UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR QUESTIONING WHY FEMALE STUDENT WAS IN BOYS’ LOCKER ROOM He accused LCPS of “clear religious discrimination” and suspects the district is backing off the probe into his Muslim client for political reasons, as the Muslim community is a “key constituency” in Loudoun County. “We find this to be outrageous, and we’re pushing back,” he added.  If found guilty, the students could face suspension or expulsion and would have the violation on their record, Hetzler says.  “Often times the process is the punishment,” he added. “They shouldn’t be investigated.” In audio of the taped locker room incident obtained by Fox News Digital, male students can be heard asking, “Why is there a girl? I’m so uncomfortable there is a girl. A female, bro, get out of here.”  LCPS told Fox News Digital it was restricted legally from being able to share specifics about Title IX investigations. PARENTS BLAST SCHOOL BOARD AS BOYS INVESTIGATED FOR COMPLAINING ABOUT TRANS STUDENT IN LOCKER ROOM A spokesperson said the district was “committed to providing a safe and inclusive educational environment for all students, employees, and community members” and that its Title IX process “follows applicable federal law.” The district previously pushed back on the allegations it was investigating students based on their viewpoints. “To be absolutely clear: Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) would not investigate or discipline students based on their personal opinions, thoughts, or beliefs, provided those expressions do not violate policies prohibiting hate speech, discriminatory language, threats, or other forms of harmful or disruptive conduct,” LCPS said in a statement to Fox News Digital in May. “However, LCPS does investigate and may take disciplinary action when student behavior violates LCPS’ Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook for Families and Student Code of Conduct.” The district’s gender policy was recently challenged by Virginia’s Republican Attorney General, Jason Mirayes, and is now being investigated by the Justice Department. The district was already under a Title IX investigation by the U.S. Department of Education over its gender identity policies. The Biden administration updated Title IX regulations in 2021 and 2022 to expand protections for LGBTQ+ students, interpreting the law’s prohibition on sex discrimination to include gender identity and sexual orientation. Under then-President Joe Biden’s interpretation, transgender students were allowed in women’s sports, bathrooms, changing room facilities and in other educational programs. Soon after taking office, Trump’s Department of Education notified K-12 schools that it would be reversing Biden’s re-write of Title IX and enforce these protections on the basis of biological sex in schools and on campuses.
